Plot[]

While investigating the murder of a hockey player, Liv stumbles into Chase Graves' evil plan; Major is forced to make a horrible decision; Peyton tries to contain a volatile situation.

Recap[]

Major and Don bicker as they drive down a road. Don attempts to play slug bug, to which Major responds by punching him hard. Behind them, the sound of a woman screaming and crying from where she's contained can be heard.

Major and Don pull over at a gas station for Don to run in and get snacks. He attempts to buy alcohol from the wary, elderly woman manning the register, but when she asks for his ID, he threatens her. He's then seen returning to the car. Back at the door, the elderly woman appears apparently unharmed but carrying a bat.

Back at Fillmore-Graves, Chase discusses the brain supply shortage situation with his team. Ultimately, he's forced to confess that he has Renegade in his possession but refuses to kill her, keeping her imprisoned instead. There are multiple flashbacks to him speaking with Renegade as she's prepared to be kept on ice. He's pressured to have her executed to set an example for anyone else considering Turning somebody.

Major, Don, and their captive are seen at a motel. The captive—a young woman who seems to have been out partying, who keeps demanding to know if they know who she is—is hostile until Don raises a gun to her face. Major orders him to put the gun away, and he lowers it. Sloane says her wrists hurt and asks Don to please untie her, which he does; she promptly decks him. Before Don can retaliate, the TV shows the news of the woman from the gas station reporting about the attack. Major becomes frustrated with Don, and Sloane realizes that her kidnappers are zombies. Major orders Don to keep an eye on Sloane as they wait for their contacts and goes to take a nap.

Several hours later, Major and Don both wake up and find that Sloane is missing. Major rushes outside to look for her; Don checks the bathroom. There, he finds Sloane slumped unconscious and bleeding on the floor. They locate two Utopium vials and realize she has overdosed. In an effort to save her life, Major scratches her, and she wakes up gasping for breath.

Meanwhile, Liv and Clive have been pursuing the murder of Gordie. Liv has a flashback in which she sees Blaine going for him and realizes he's the murderer. When they bring him in for an interrogation, he's openly unhelpful and mocks Liv's brain-influenced rage. This jeering, however, results in him mentioning a laundromat, which Liv immediately catches. Blaine tries to blow it off as something Liv said, but Clive explains that they never actually saw evidence of a location in Liv's visions, so they didn't know. Liv becomes distressed worrying about Mama Leone and leaves the room, and Clive follows after. Liv explains that Mama Leone is Renegade, much to Clive's chagrin. As Clive tries to calm Liv down, she has another flashback, this time seeing Levon talking to Gordie about Mama Leone. The pieces begin coming together as Liv realizes both zombies were working for Mama Leone when they were killed by Blaine.

Peyton learns of a terrible accident with five dead, including the driver, who was so starved that he passed out at the wheel and crashed. When he came to, he began eating the available brains automatically until one of the women who had tried to get him fired managed to shoot him in the head, killing him.

At Fillmore-Graves headquarters, Sloane is revealed to be none other than the daughter of General Mills, who wishes to nuke New Seattle. Chase notes that her father loves her, to which she agrees. Later, Major spots him drinking alone. Chase remarks that while Major's operation didn't go as planned, it may have saved them all. Major assures him that he needs to do what he needs to do, which makes him consider what else he feels he needs to do. He then goes to thaw Mama Leone and inform her that she'll be punished by public execution.

At the morgue, Liv and Ravi discuss the frustration of Blaine going free for his crimes yet again when Peyton rushes in and says Mama Leone is to be executed. As it wasn't announced in advance, it's clear that Fillmore-Graves is ashamed of the act but doing it anyway. They rush to the guillotine but are unable to stop it. Liv tries to shout out for Mama Leone, but a guard stops her. Mama Leone catches her eye and shakes her head. Before the blade drops, Liv sees Major standing guard with his back to the execution and realizes he's a part of it in some way. The blade falls.

Major turns and meets Liv's stare. Obviously feeling betrayed, she turns from him and approaches Levon, telling him to gather who's left of Mama Leone's team. When he asks why, she declares that they're picking up where she left off.
